The 21st Annual Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Disease
This is indeed a pleasure to present to you the program of the 21st Annual Multidisciplinary Symposium on Breast Disease, which will take place February 11-14, 2016 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Amelia Island, Florida.
During the last two decades, the symposium has provided a unique educational experience for those involved in breast health care. As an internationally recognized symposium, we have been fortunate to attract the most highly respected speakers to participate in the symposium every year.
The program is designed to offer pre-symposium workshops, plenary sessions, case presentations and panel discussions with active participation of the audience. The speakers are recognized authorities in their specialties, with experience in presenting the most controversial aspects surrounding the spectrum of benign, premalignant and malignant breast lesions.
The two pre-symposium workshops provide focused attention to the disciplines that are of critical importance in breast health care. The workshop entitled “Breast Cancer Risk and Genetic Testing in the Modern Era” is designed to provide comprehensive overview of the breast cancer risk factors. In addition, for the first time we have planned a one-day course entitled “Difficult to Diagnosis Cases in Breast Pathology” that will highlight the significant role of pathologists in providing accurate diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive information.
This year, we are fortunate to have Dr. Melvin Silverstein as our keynote speaker. Dr. Silverstein is the Medical Director of Hoag Breast Center and the Gross Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. He also serves as Clinical Professor of Surgery at The Keck School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Dr. Silverstein gave the 50th IS Ravidin Lecture at the 2015 Annual Meeting of American College of Surgeons.
As always, the symposium will take place over Valentine’s Day weekend in one of the most beautiful resort locations in Florida. Please join us to celebrate the 21st anniversary of our symposium.
We look forward to seeing you February 11-14, 2016!
Shahla Masood, M.D.
